Up next is Walt Disco. Firstly, the name is great. Secondly, they sound great. Thirdly, they put on a great live show, and that's enough for me!
Walt Disco are an art-pop-alt-rock band based in Glasgow. They are releasing their new self-titled album, Walt Disco (as I said, great name!), on 2nd October 2026. Apparently, the band recorded the album live together as a full unit for the first time.
But I am looking back. I first came across them during lockdown as part of the SXSW British Council showcase. We had just seen Porridge Radio right before lockdown hit, and it was still a possibility that that group of bands were going to make it across the pond, but alas, no. But all that crop made up for lost time.
Anyway, when I heard Walt Disco's "Cut Your Hair," a standout track from their 2022 debut album Unlearning, it completely grabbed my attention. It’s tongue-in-cheek and perfectly blends glam-rock with new-wave. Its message rallies against passing judgment on people for how they look or who they are, and who can argue with that? Unless you like passing judgment on how people look or who they are. But that wouldn't make you very nice, would it?

I hope the new album continues their excellent start, the single "Lies" precedes it, and I am sure they will be touring it.
But for 1000 Songs, "Cut Your Hair" is in at the moment. Let's see if there is another one by 2030!
