On 1000songs.co.uk, I occasionally come across a band in the archive that doesn't yet have a Wikipedia page.

pôt-pot were one such band.

so I created a page for them.

The quintet features musicians from the Cork DIY music scene, though they are currently based out of Lisbon, Portugal. They craft an expansive space-rock sound. As a massive fan of Can, Neu!, Faust, and the Krautrock motorik rhythm, it was fantastic to find a band doing this in 2025 and doing it so well!

It's often tricky to source enough material for a new band's Wikipedia page, but pôt-pot were well worth digging into (helped along by the fact that they were nominated for the Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year in 2025!).

I was initially turned on to them by BBC Radio 6 Music's Deb Grant (who I also created the Wikipedia page for!). Their debut, Warsaw 480km, was released on the LA-based label Felte Records (guess who wrote their Wikipedia page!).

I went with "22° Halo" for the archive.

Near the opening of the album, the track has a hypnotic momentum, perfectly blending that relentless, driving motorik rhythm with swirling harmonium drones and dark, male-female vocal harmonies.

If Warsaw 480km is what they can achieve on a debut record, they are a band you absolutely need to keep on your radar. I'll definitely keep my ears out for more for the archive as we near 2030!
