Back around 2008, I was at The Windmill in Brixton waiting to see The Brakes.

The support act wandered to the front, Joseph Mount. He had originally started Metronomy as a bedroom project down in Devon.

Now some would say a guy standing alone in a South London pub could look like a bloke desperately trying to steal the pub's Wi-Fi. Not for me. This is exactly where I want to be. The amplification of happiness in large venues is too much for me.

Anyway, Metronomy did eventually evolve into a brilliant live act featuring synchronized dance routines and wearing pound-shop push lights, which made a lot of people happy en-masse at the same time.
