Dodgy

My early music buying experience was shaped by a slightly toxic relationship with the Britannia Music Club.

They operated on the classic gateway model. Get a few free CDs or tapes then spend the next few years trying to figure out how to cancel while unwanted albums continuously arrived.

"Free Peace Sweet" by Dodgy was one such album I obtained via this method (coincidentally, Dodgy was also the legal status of every Britannia Music Club subscription contract ever signed.)

Dodgy were from Hounslow (someone has to be). They were bright sunny unashamed Britpop. They released singles like "Good Enough" and "Staying Out for the Summer."

"Free Peace Sweet" was an album that was ridiculously easy to listen to. A bit too easy, maybe.

But I have taken the plunge and gone with "In a Room."

It described an era and I have declined from featuring other bands from that time like Cast, Bluetones, Space and the mighty Shed Seven!
